After the Brooklyn clan left, took some time for a walk in the woods. Now that would be an activity I would appreciate doing every day with someone, but this time with David, Becky and Abby was the best.
Time with family means lots of talking usually revolving around food at any time of the day. I grew up in a family that liked to play games. And now my own kids continue that tradition of enjoying games with all the generations. David flew in from Chicago with Becky who so wonderfully shared herself with us, with Thomas being stationed in Iraq (IM'ing was a valued important connection to him in Mosul.) Brian, Liz, Landen (2yrs) and Lauren(2 mos) drove down from Brooklyn. Wonderful to wake up to the kids and their kids and their expectant kids, and to say goodnight to all of them too, with Landen sleeping on a futon in my bedroom. Warms the ears to hear "Nana" in the early morning. My brother Terrell, sister in law Linda and their 2 girls Jennifer and Rebecca and her son Andrew also gathered here for Christmas festivities. Obviously I felt extremely blessed.
A breathless Colorado experience full of natural beauty within a young married couple, Thomas and Becky, and the magnificent, statuesque Colorado Rocky Mountains. The explorations of nature, conversation and time are priceless.
Chicago, still a beautiful city with so much to offer
The triathlon - David swimming 1.5k in Lake Michigan, definitely a challenge; biking 40k on Lake Shore Drive, a long haul; and running 10k and pulling it off. Congratulations David. And Brian, Landen and Liz cheered him on, and enjoyed a good walk at Oak Street beach - catch the palm trees!
